07.03.08 - WCS Demo With Alex And Neal
Newcomer Alex Perelson and Neal Hendrix were in Rome, Italy for The SPOT Roman Series as part of the World Cup of Skateboarding. Check out some pics and what Neal had to say about the event. "So, I had the pleasure today of introducing Alex to the fine art of vert demo's at European music festival's. Luckily, the demo organizer was able to squeeze Alex in as a last minute replacement for one of the US riders that couldn't come over, and we did 3 demo's with a small crowd of about 120,000 dirty, drunk people. It was great. Demo's were awesome, Alex shredded, and we're off to Prague tomorrow..."

07.01.08 - The Vans Coastal Edge Block Party
Vans is going to be rockin' the East Coast at the Coastal Edge store in Virginia Beach, VA on July 12th. Come on out for the Vans Skate Team demo and signing, Vans Girls fashion show, and Vans Surf Team signing. Also enjoy musical performances by Ray Barbee and Chuck Treece, an all day BBQ and lots of free goodies! The event starts at 1pm, so if you're in the area, don't miss it!

Hot on the heels of the Journey's Backyard BBQ demo in New York, Josh Borden, Rob Lorifice, and Alex Perelson flew to Houston for the grand opening of the Lee & Joe Jamail Skatepark in downtown. Joing them was Omar Hassan, Christian Hosoi, Jeff Grosso and Steve Caballero who were on the Independent Trucks 30th Anniversary Tour The Sun. Jonathan Mehring is also working on an article of the entire tour for Skateboarder Magazine that will be out in the next couple of months, so be on the lookout.

The Vans team including Ray Barbee, Van Wastell, Johnny Layton, and Massimo Cavedoni were in New Orleans to do a signing at Humidity Skateboards and to go skate some spots with the local kids. Since hurricane Katrina hit, the city has been slowly recovering but it definitely has a long way to go. New Orleans is one of the best cities in the world and I want to thank all the people who made our stay so enjoyable.

04.09.08 - Vans Skatepark Gets Facelift
After almost 10 great years at The Block at Orange, the Vans Skatepark is getting a much-needed facelift to nearly every inch of skateable park terrain. Exciting additions to the new street course include a massive 80-foot mini ramp, as well as a large viewing area for the public, both of which will be constructed out of the current Vert ramp structure. This new layout will open up an additional 3,000 square feet for the street course area and create opportunities for Vans to host special events and varied skate contests and will be completed in time for the 4th annual Pro-tec Pool Party which will be held May 17th at the park's famed replica Combi Bowl. The reconstruction will be rolled out in phases throughout the next month with various sections slated to remain open to the public. Vans encourages those interested in skating to call the park ahead of time for updated information on course section closures.

First stop was yesterday at Sao Paulo and 600 kids came out to see Johnny and Geoff's first trip ever to Brazil where they skated at San Bernardo skate park! Today they are skating at Curitiba and then doing an autograph signing and tomorrow they head to Porto Alegre on the final leg of their trip.

Van Wastell, Dylan Rieder, Andrew Allen, Jon Goemann, Scott Kane and Keegan Sauder flew to Barcelona, Spain where they met up with Chris Pfanner. After settling into the apartments just next to MACBA (Meetup spot and location of the infamous "Big 4"), daily sessions ensued. The weather was unseaonably cool upon arrival but has warmed up everyday with 100% humidity. The crew is hard at work on an upcoming TWS article with resident photographer Oliver Barton. The endless supply of spots and sights has not brought a dull moment to the trip in Spain. Stay tuned for more updates from Vans in Barcelona.

The 2007 Pro-tec Pool party airs Monday night, July 23rd at 6:30pm pst/ 9:30pm est. For the third year in a row, Pro-Tec and Vans threw a skateboard pool contest that attracted some of the biggest skaters in the world to the Vans Skate Park in Orange, California. Veteran bowl skaters went head-to-head with modern vert superstars like Bucky Lasek, PLG, and Rune Glifberg. In a dramatic pro final, Glifberg just edged out Lasek and bowl vet Omar Hassan for the victory and $25,000 dollar first place prize.
