Vans Video Update from China Part 6: Panda Power
Posted Nov. 21, 2011, 11:52 a.m. /
Welcome back to the 6th part of The Vans Team's Adventures in China.
Here's Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 and Part 5 if you missed them.
Ace photographer Anthony Acosta along with Anthony Van Engelen, Andrew Allen, Chris Pfanner,
Chima Ferguson and Gilbert Crockett are on a filming mission with Greg Hunt in Hong Kong
for the upcoming Vans video.
Today the fellahs make skate at a demo/signing in Chengdu.
Chengdu is apparently known for it's beautiful ladies and panda bears.
And yet not for it's beautiful lady panda bears. How odd.
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas.
Since 1987, when it was founded, it has had 110 panda births and the captive panda population has grown to 62.
We can only assume the pretty girl population outnumbers the panda population.
But one can't help but wonder who would win in a fight...
Did you know that 99% of the Pandas diet is bamboo, yet it is listed as a carnivore? Despite how cute they are,
let's not forget the 1% and go sticking our hands in cages.
We see the damage the 1% are doing in America; the last thing we need is a bunch of armless skaters.
(Although having a pirate hook for a hand would be kind of cool. But we have to believe the novelty of
snapping bra straps would wear off after a while.)
Speaking of bad math that just doesn't add up, today's post is only HALF of the photos from the Chengdu demo
and strangely enough they're all on the quarter. Does that mean we add them together and you're seeing 3/4th the demo?
Or subtract so the quarter is only a quarter of the whole?
Perhaps we divide and the answer to whatever you're wondering is 2.
Whatever it works out to be, we feel a golden opportunity was missed by not having someone in a panda costume.
