Vans Video Update from South America: Part 2
Last week we told you the guys went down to South America for a filming mission with Greg Hunt for the new Vans video. Geoff Rowley, Tony Trujillo, Chima Ferguson, Daniel Lutheran, Johnny Layton and Chris Pfanner landed safely in Chile and then…radio silence. A week passed with no word on their where-abouts or well being. We started to worry. It wasn’t like them not to check in. We emailed Sharon Lutheran, Daniel’s mom, because if anyone was going to check in it would be him. But he hadn’t. The mind is funny and it will go into some dark places if you allow it. The worst thoughts entered our heads. Had the team been abducted by Mexican Cartel in Chile? Had someone been too stoned and made a left off a cliff when they should have made a right? Had they been setting their boards up this entire time? That shit takes forever! Someone should really make decks that are 8-ply and have that top ply just be griptape. It’s 2012 for god’s sake! Are we still really gripping our own boards? I mean, scientists found a cure for Polio in 1952. What else have they been working on since then? Because honestly, I haven’t seen one technological break-through since. Hey, lab nerds! If you’re done dicking around can you please get to work on a griptape tree? Thanks.
So we did the only thing concerned friends can do when their team goes missing in a foreign country…we bought a sixer and a pizza and thought about what we should do. We even pulled out some paper and colored pencils in case we came up with some really good ideas that we didn’t want to forget (Dude! It’s medicinal!). You should have seen some of the pictures we drew of the dudes. One was all of them up in a tree in the African jungle in Chile with a lion on the ground all bummed out that he couldn’t get to them. But then someone was like, “Dude! Lions can climb trees,” and totally ruined the moment. I don’t know why people do that. No need to piss on people’s parades with facts and shit…
Anyway, we woke up the next morning in the kitchen with our shirt off to the sound of our phone buzzing with an email full of photos from the demo the guys did in Chile. And we were like, “Oh, yeah! That’s right! They were doing a demo all week.” (For more photos go to Vans Chile's Facebook Page.)
Next up…Brazil.
And next week…GILBERT CROCKETT WEEK!
