Vans Video Update from South America: Part 1
Posted March 26, 2012, 6:38 a.m. /
A new international filming mission has begun. A five man crew of Tony Trujillo, Chima Ferguson, Daniel Lutheran, Johnny Layton and Chris Pfanner along with Greg Hunt, Cody Green and Anthony Acosta just embarked for South America yesterday. Straight off a 15 hour flight to Chile, directly into an autograph signing at an "extreme" mall. The place had a skatepark, wave machine and nothing but shops that sold stuff that was "extreme." A bunch of kids came out and got their signatures. The tour was supposed to start in Brazil but Daniel Lutheran insisted on a detour to Chile to see if he could find some of that famous New Mexico green chile stew he's always talking about. Turns out they don't make chile in Chile. And they're really not that big on stew either. So instead the guys ended the night with some good German food to make Pfanner feel at home...schnitzel to be exact.
The crew had a full day to skate today, which was a semi-success. The dudes skated some rad spots and got kicked out of everywhere else. Seems Chile has over-achieving security guards everywhere. They say the name Chile comes from the Native American word meaning, "The ends of The Earth." If that's the case I'm not sure why they feel the need to defend their skatespots with such aggression. It's the end of the earth, chill out. Your spots aren't going to get blow out. Promise.
The first days are already behind us. Geoff Rowley gets in tomorrow. Then the van moves west, towards the beach and further adventure.
