2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the Vans Half Cab, the world's longest running, continuously produced signature skate shoe. To commemorate this milestone, professional skateboarder Steve Caballero hand-selected over 20 of his favorite artists to "customize" one pair each of natural canvas Half Cab 20th Anniversary edition shoes to display at the House of Vans in Brooklyn, New York on October 4, 2012. Also this year, Vans Syndicate asked skateboarding editor and photographer Lance Dawes to curate an exhibition of photography spanning twenty years from some of the world's greatest skateboard photographers featuring some of the world’s greatest skateboarders wearing the world's greatest skateboard shoe. These photos became the traveling group exhibition TWENTY; twenty skaters, twenty photographs, twenty years, one legendary shoe. In 2012, the photos in this exhibition were shown in Los Angeles, New York and Amsterdam.
And the best part is, all these items are currently up for auction here to benefit the A.skate Foundation, combating autism with skateboarding. Join the fight at askate.org.
